CHAMPION, Ohio (WKBN) - Some Trumbull County high school students were encouraged on Thursday to say "yes" to being involved.
It was all a part of Champion High School's "Yes Fest." Around 30 different groups took part in the event including the American Red Cross, Rotary Club, Animal Welfare League, local missions, Oh! Wow Science Center, military and college recruiters, and several in-school organizations.
The goal was to educate students about different opportunities outside of school.
"I didn't even know that some of these existed and now there's things there that I didn't even know were there as options," said Champion High School senior Cooper White.
Yes Fest is
Yes Fest is organized by school counselors who say it's a fun day for the students but gets them looking toward the future as well.
"It's really important for children to get involved in something that speaks to them and something they can do maybe even after they graduate high school," said guidance counselor Casey Vastag. "Sometimes they make connections with different people and that can help them with their career or whatever they might want to do when they graduate."
This is the eighth year for Yes Fest at Champion High School.
