(WKBN) - Three Valley counties will share in a $19.2 million statewide grant to help with conservation and fund local projects.
The Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) announced Monday the release of funds for 37 conservation project awards, including three in Columbiana, Trumbull and Mahoning counties.
Columbiana County is getting $270,966 for the county park district, specifically Kerestes Cliffs. Mahoning County will receive $150,000 for wildlife sanctuary improvements in Mill Creek MetroParks, and Trumbull County is using its $449,358 for Champion Wetland Connector in the Trumbull County MetroParks system.
Projects are vetted by the state’s 19 regional natural resource assistance councils.
“These projects are critical for protection of Ohio’s natural resources, biodiversity, and habitats,” said Linda Bailiff, director of the Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Program. “It’s a great time of year to get out and explore the many parks and preserves throughout our great state.”
