COLUMBIANA, Ohio (WKBN) – Eli Cope singled in the game-winning run for Crestview as the Rebels prevailed in the ninth inning over Champion.
The home-standing Rebels were led by Zachary Davis, who went 8 innings, allowing 3 hits and striking out 9. Braden Devine came on in relief to pitch the final inning and earn the victory.
For Champion, Dylan Howell tossed 8 2/3 innings before getting the loss, but not before notching 6 strikeouts and not allowing a single earned run.
Howell also led the Golden Flashes at the plate with a pair of singles.
Champion falls to 2-6; three of their last 4 losses were by a total of 5 runs.
On Wednesday, Champion will travel to Grand Valley.
