CHAMPION, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) - Beverly Katherine Posey 73, of Champion, Ohio died Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Mercy Health, Hospice House of the Valley.
Beverly was born on May 6, 1951, in Weston, West Virginia a daughter of the late Herbert and Dorothy (Schieffer) Posey. She and her brother, David, grew up there on the beloved family farm.
West Virginia was Bev's favorite place on this earth, and she always referred to West Virginia as "almost Heaven." After a conversation with a former pastor, Beverly decided that if West Virginia was almost Heaven then Heaven was truly like going home. Saturday, Bev went home.
Beverly graduated from Champion High School, class of 1969.
Upon completing training, she was employed as a computer programmer and operator at Grinnell Corporation in Warren, Ohio and also at John Deere in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Beverly returned to Warren, Ohio to care for her parents.
She then started her "second act" by driving the Amish and ...just like that ...she had a whole new family.
Beverly was a member of Champion Christian Church.
Beverly embraced life as an adventure and had a very keen sense of humor and a quick wit. Wherever she was, you heard laughter. Beverly knew no stranger. Anyone who was privileged enough to know and have Beverly in their lives, knew what true friendship and love was. Wherever she went, from West Virginia to Ohio, to North Carolina she made friends who then became family. All children captured Bev's heart, and they adored her. She played different characters at Champion Christian Church Vacation Bible Schools, a favorite being Ranger Bev. You would find Bev supporting her young friends at their baseball or soccer games or applauding them at their school plays. Beverly was also a huge advocate for animals, frequently rescuing her pets.
Beverly loved Camaros and motorcycles, the faster the better. She loved all kinds of music and attending music concerts was a favorite pastime. Bev was also a huge football fan, following Ohio and North Carolina teams.
Left to cherish her memories are her nieces, Katie Posey (Brian Tate) of Howland, Ohio and Jessie Posey-Chereck (Kenneth); great-niece, Emily Butcher-Posey; great-nephews, Hemingway and Griffin Chereck of Transfer, Pennsylvania; her sister-in-law, Patty Posey of Champion, Ohio and many, many cousins and friends. She also leaves behind her fur babies Marley and Troyer. Beverly will especially be missed by her cousin, friend, and caregiver Patty Urey.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother, David M. Posey of Champion, Ohio.
