Trumbull County Sports Hall of Fame adds 12 new inductees

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) - The Trumbull County Sports Hall of Fame officially inducted 12 new members during an enshrinement ceremony on Sunday at DiVieste's Banquet Center in Warren.

The organization's 21st class included Ryan Allison, Dana Balash, Sarah Cash, Christen Clemsen, Michael Johnson, Bill Leonard, Bob Leonard, Don Lott, Todd P. McLain, Jeff Rasile, Tyler Scott and P.C. Torres, III.

Ryan Allison - Sports Broadcasting
A 1995 graduate of Howland High School, Allison has spent the last 20 years as the sports director at WKBN-TV. He has won multiple Associated Press awards, including several first-place honors in Ohio for 'Outstanding Sports Operation'.

Dana Balash - Sports Broadcasting
The Hubbard graduate is approaching his 40th year at WFMJ-TV and has served as sports director for the last 24 years. Balash received the OHSAA Sports Media Award in 2005, the highest award presented to the media by the OHSAA.

Sarah Cash - Basketball
The Lordstown graduate finished her high school career as the program's all-time leading scorer (1,774 points) and rebounder (1,294). Cash also spent five years at Youngstown State University, and holds career marks for games played (135) and field-goal percentage (.570).

Christen Clemson - Track & Field
As a four-sport standout at Maplewood High School, Clemson won the Division III Discus State Championship in both her junior and senior year. She competed collegiately at Penn State University where she earned a PhD and was five-time Academic All-American.

Michael Johnson - Football
A three-year starter at Howland High School, Johnson was an All-Steel Valley Conference selection that helped contribute to 23 wins in 30 games played. He also earned three letters in football at the University of Mount Union.

Bill Leonard - Football
As a 1960 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, Leonard starred for the Red Dragons in both football and basketball. Leonard played quarterback collegiately at Indiana State College of Pennsylvania and was selected as co-captain of the 1963 squad.

Bob Leonard - Football
As a 1967 graduate of Niles McKinley High School, Leonard played quarterback for the school's 1966 undefeated team that finished 10-0, was recognized as the best in Ohio by the National Sports News Service, and ended up ranked fifth in the nation.

Don Lott - Wrestling
As a 1956 graduate of Howland High School, Lott was credited with starting the Brookfield wrestling program in 1968. He took over at Liberty in 1975 and helped lead the Leopards to multiple league championships and coached several state tournament placers.

Todd P. McLain - Football
Finished his scholastic career with 2,717 yards rushing and 29 touchdowns for Mathews High School. McLain graduated as the Mustangs' all-time leading rusher, scorer and tackler, and set new program standards for most interceptions in a career

Jeff Rasile - Basketball
Rasile spent 20 years as head coach of both the Champion and McDonald boys basketball teams, compiling 386 career wins, 10 conference championships, and six district titles. McDonald's 63-game regular season winning streak remains a Trumbull County record.

Tyler Scott - Football
Scott graduated with six varsity letters from Howland and recorded a school-record 147 tackles, six interceptions and eight sacks his senior season. He played in 49 games at Northwestern University and ranked sixth all-time 16 career sacks.

P.C. Torres III - Boxing
As a member of the U.S. Navy boxing team, he compiled a 52-9 amateur record and was named the 1981 6th Fleet, 132-pound division champion. Torres also won the 1984 Golden Gloves title at 139 pounds and served as the director and trainer of the Warren Boxing Association for 16 years.
